Harmony and Hope – our service on Sunday morning 15 December, 2024
Harmony and Hope – a celebration of the season – our service on Sunday morning 15 December, 2024 – 3rd Sunday of Advent
Led by Rosemary Woodall and Dorothy Blatcher
With a particular focus on harmony and the hope that sustains it, this accessible all-age service included:
- A video about a refugee family in the Middle East today – linking it to the conditions of Christ’s birth and finding many parallels with conditions today especially for the displaced, the impoverished and the refugee.
- A culmination of the appeal for clothing for the refugees and for the Synod collection for Gaza and Lebanon.
- A beautiful reflection by Mark Robinson that considered that, whilst for many, difficult situations surround Christmas celebrations, Christ’s birth is a reason for hope – and not a naïve hope or an escape, but a presence that will sustain us in all circumstance.
- We prayed for people and situations needing Christ’s hope at this time, noting them on paper chain prayer links held up and united in prayer.
- And we sang in celebration and with hope, enjoying carols chosen by members of our congregation and learning the reasons for their choices.
A harmonious service enjoyed by all.
